We had a great time at the 2nd Grass Roots Cutting Academy, held at River's Bend Ranch in Stanley Virginia. See photos HERE. The day started with a presentation from Tracy T Barton, Trainer, NCHA Executive Director Jeff Hooper, NCHA Director and Judge Ernie Beutenmiller, Jr. Then NCHA Director of Judges Russell McCord provided a very informative seminar including a DVD presentation of "Understanding Rules & Judging".
The clinic drew 36 Auditors, and 24 Live Work entries. The afternoon Live Work was judged/critiqued by Russell McCord, as well as Showmanship review and suggestions from Ernie Beutenmiller and Tracy Barton. Everyone agreed the clinic was informative and educational as well as enertaining!
The entire day will be available on DVD. This is a fantastic training tool to sharpen your showing skills! See what will qualify for a credit earning ride as well as the do's and don'ts of showmanship cutting.
Jeff McDaniel and the River Bend Ranch crew provided a lovely weekend, the meals were yummie, the service was impeccable and the views were stunning. This was our first NCHA event held at BRB, we appreciate the hospitality River's Bend Ranch staff provided for our Clinic.
The weather was simply fantastic, which provided for great photos and video ... and its true, at RBR, cows DO actually fly!! See more about River's Bend Ranch HERE. We will definitely be returning to RBR.
On Sunday, AREA 17, directed by Tom Smack and Jim Johnson, had a one day show, with 62 entries, Judged by John Tuckey of Richmond, VA, and Sue Barton as show secretary.
